Good evening folks
Hope you’re all feeling refreshed after the weekend…and it’s not over yet
I apologise for my lack of blogs lately, life has been a little hectic to say the least.
My most exciting news is that I’m back in the studio again and have finally started laying down track for my new album which I’m hoping to release later in the year. I’m recording it with the wonderful Thomas Donoghue at Broderick’s Studios Kilkenny and to say I’m ecstatic is an understatement.
I had a minor set back in that I had to have a couple of wisdom teeth removed. It was a little frightening as there was a possibility of some nerve damage due to the position of the tooth. As a gal who’s business depends on her voice this was horrendous to hear. Thankfully I had an amazing dental surgeon, Darren McCourt in Dalkey and the procedure couldn’t have gone better. I found being unable to talk for a few days the most difficult thing about the whole episode and dying to get back into the studio.
I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be one of the headliners on some incredible European Festivals this July & August including Festdobrérybníky Slovakia & Prázdniny v Telci Festival Czech Republic alongside our very own Glen Hansard. Dates are being added daily so keep an eye out here a full list of dates and details. I’ll be accompanied by my brother John Parle (percussion) & Slovakian dobro player Milan Benkovi?.
Pictured below with the bro and our great friend festival organiser Cali.
I popped up to Belfast recently to appear on NVTV Belfast’s The Big Interview with a great old pal Robin Elliott. Robin and I have known each other for over 10 years and I was so happy with the interview. It really helps when it’s somebody that you know & trust who is doing the interviewing. Watch full interview and performance below

Over the past 10 years, Luan has been bringing songwriting & performance workshops to people of all ages around Ireland through her own company LPR Records, through IMRO, Music Generation, The International Literature Festival Dublin among other organisations.
Luan held a songwriting workshop with the transition year girls from Presentation Secondary School Clonmel in association with IMRO for RTE’s Big Music Week some years back. The song written during the workshop titled ‘My Hero’ became a great success and was released for St Vincent De Paul Charity two weeks before Christmas reaching number 7 in the Irish charts. Paddy Power was even taking bets for a Christmas number 1. You can watch the video below…
The workshop is one hour per week for 5 weeks and focuses on songwriting & performance. The workshop participants will also learn about the day to day workings of the music industry from a professional musician and receive guidance if looking to pursue a career in music.
RTE’s Nationwide recently filmed and covered one of Luan’s songwriting workshops which will be aired at a future date.
In April of this year Luan brought 5 songwriting workshops in association with IMRO to 5 secondary schools around the country including CCM in Wicklow. She was so impressed by the song written during the workshop that she organised for producer Gavin Ralston to visit the school and record the song with the students. Luan released the song as a single through her own record label LPR Records on September 22nd 2017 and donating all proceeds to The Irish Heart Foundation for prevention of Heart Attacks and Stroke and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The single was launched by Minister For Health Simon Harris, went straight to no,1 in iTunes and no.10 in the official single download charts Friday September 29th.

This Friday September 22nd sees the release of ‘Your Love Still Guides My Way’ by students of Coláiste Chill Mhantáin, Wicklow.
In April of this year, I teamed up with IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) again to bring 5 songwriting and performance workshops to secondary schools throughout Ireland.
One of the schools chosen for the workshop was Coláiste Chill Mhantáin, Wicklow. I was so excited to revisit my old secondary school and see some of my old teachers but nothing could have prepared me for what I experienced when I walked into Miss McAdam’s 2nd – 6th year music students class. I was immediately taken by the students ability to play all their own instruments amazingly well. I knew instantly that this group of young people were very special.
I normally start my workshops by asking the students what’s going on in their lives at that moment as I feel it’s important that they write a song that’s personal to them. Straight away, one young girl called Irlanda started to speak about visiting her dad in hospital who has been recovering from a stroke for 5 years. I was touched immediately having only lost my own dad 4 months previous after battling a massive stroke for 5 years.
Other students starting opening up about their loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s & other illnesses and by the end of the workshop ‘Your Love Still Guides My Way’ was born.
I felt the song was so special that I called my good friend Gavin Ralston who then visited the school to record and produce the song with the students who performed and played all instruments themselves. Colm Flynn was on hand to film the recording on the day.
The students were an absolute pleasure to work with and it was just lovely to see the encouragement within the classroom among the students and their teachers, a testament to a wonderful school that really cares.
This Friday September 22nd the single will be released with all proceeds being donated to The Irish Heart Foundation (for the prevention of heart attacks & stroke) and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The single is available to pre-order from iTunes for just 99 cent here
