Engaging Songwriting Workshops and Programmes for Schools, Colleges, Healthcare Settings, Festivals and Community Organisations

I design and deliver bespoke songwriting workshops and creative programmes for schools, colleges and universities, healthcare settings, festivals, community organisations, arts organisations and businesses. Every programme is thoughtfully tailored to the unique needs of the participants and the organisation, creating engaging, inclusive and meaningful creative experiences.

Every workshop is designed around the participants taking part, with each programme carefully tailored to suit the participants, setting and objectives. Through an engaging masterclass in songwriting, participants explore song structure, lyric writing, melody development and the creative process, working collaboratively to transform ideas into an original song.

Workshops can be delivered as one-off sessions, half-day (approximately three hours), full-day workshops or as a series of sessions, depending on the needs of the organisation. In a relaxed, supportive and inclusive environment, participants build confidence, creativity, communication and connection while working towards a shared goal of writing and performing an original song together by the end of the workshop or programme.

No previous songwriting or musical experience is required—whether you’re writing your very first song or you’re an experienced songwriter or musician, you’ll be welcomed into a creative, supportive and inspiring environment.

Participants are encouraged to bring an instrument if they play one, but it is not essential.

Over the years, I have partnered with organisations including IMRO, Creative Schools, the Department of Education, Music Generation, Sing Ireland, the Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP) and BLAST, delivering programmes that inspire creativity, strengthen communication and encourage collaboration. I also contributed to the development of Me and My Music, helping to bring songwriting into the Junior Cycle Music curriculum, and have delivered professional development workshops for teachers, equipping them with practical tools to confidently use songwriting in the classroom.

As part of selected programmes, I have brought some of Ireland’s most celebrated songwriters and performers into the classroom to share their creative process with participants. Artists including Christy Moore have given students and workshop participants a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the craft of songwriting from one of Ireland’s most respected musical voices.
