ILFD IS CALLING FOR STORIES FROM THE CITY

STORIES FROM THE CITY offers you the chance to host an International Literature Festival Dublin event in your OWN home or workplace

You come up with the idea, and we’ll help you make it happen.

We’re looking for:

  • You

  • Ideas and stories that connect you and Dublin with another place or country

  • Fun ways to share how great writing – whether it is lyrics, plays, novels, poetry/spoken word, comedy, journalism, non-fiction – connects with your life story.

To help you develop your STORIES FROM THE CITY proposal, the festival will pair you up with a mentor/artist  to help you shape your idea into a great event that others can share. They may even take part in your event! Already on board are …….with more to be announced.

We are keen to hear from anyone and everyone who would like to share their story in a creative way and reflect on ways in which great writing or reading have played a part in their lives.

Individuals or groups are invited to submit an event that they would like to host in their own house or at their work-place in which they tell some part of their (life) story.

This can be done in a way that suits your style  – it can use music, chat, video/film, books  –  anything that helps people understand your story.

Perhaps you’d like to host  live illustration in your living room? Haikus in your hallways? Or even a book fair in your back-garden? The options are endless, so get your creative caps on and write to us.

The event must be open to the public to attend and the festival will promote this, as part of the ILFD2017 programme.

How to enter?

Submit your  proposal by email to stories@ilfdublin.com by March 31st. All types of proposals are welcome, send us a video or even just a simple email.

Questions worth considering when devising your proposal:

  • What book/writing has inspired you most/played an important part in your life  or is still important to your story?

  • Where are you from and where would you like to locate your event (home or work)?

  • What book/writer reminds you of home?

  • Have you help to put on this event – or what kind of help might you need?

  • If you are under eighteen, do you have parental consent to put on this event?

What happens next?

  • Once your proposal has been submitted you will receive a confirmation email.

  • If your idea is chosen, we will pair you up with a suitable mentor/artist.
