Songwriting Workshop
Yellow Furze National School | We Danced Around (Original Song)
We Danced Around is an original song written by the students of Yellow Furze National School as part of a songwriting project delivered in partnership with Waltons New School of Music.
Over a series of workshops, Luan Parle worked with the entire school, guiding three class groups through the creative process of writing their own original songs. This performance features one of those songs—a heartfelt love song inspired by imagination, storytelling, and the students’ own ideas.
The lyrics include a special reference to Christy Moore, whose family has strong connections to Yellow Furze, celebrating a piece of local musical heritage that is clearly treasured by the students. This performance captures the joy, confidence, and creativity that emerged throughout the project, demonstrating the power of songwriting to give young people a voice while celebrating their own community and musical influences.
