Songs of Our Place Kilkenny 2026
Songs of Our Place 2026 is a community songwriting project that brings people together to explore identity, place, and belonging through the creation of original songs. Working in partnership with schools, libraries, theatres, local authorities, arts organisations, and community groups, each project is shaped by the unique stories, voices, and experiences of the people taking part.
This video celebrates the 2026 Songs of Our Place Kilkenny project, featuring highlights from the original songs created by participants, along with a special radio performance by one of the participating schools. The broadcast also includes reflections from The Watergate Theatre Director Joanna Cunningham, whose support and funding made the project possible, facilitator Luan Parle, and a participating teacher, offering an insight into the impact of the project.
Whether working with young people, older adults, or intergenerational groups, Songs of Our Place creates meaningful opportunities for creativity, collaboration, confidence-building, and connection through music.
If you’re interested in bringing Songs of Our Place to your community, I’d love to hear from you. The project is developed in partnership with theatres, libraries, local authorities, schools, arts organisations, and community groups, with each programme tailored to reflect the unique stories, voices, and identity of the community involved.
