Hope you’re all having a great start to the new year so far. My 2019 has started off with a bang!!!
Last Friday night I joined Paddy Casey, Davey Cashin, Eleanor McEvoy, Loah, Sive, Sibéal Ní Chaside, Mike Hanrahan, Gavin Glass, Phelim Drew & Daoirí Farrell for a performance of Raglan Road as part of Tradfest 2019. I was so thrilled & honoured to be invited to perform the song alongside such Irish legends.
Also launched on the night was the search for Ireland’s Greatest Folk Song which I am so excited to be a part of.
Ireland’s Favourite Folk Song, is a brand new RTÉ 5-part series and national campaign hosted by Irish singer & folk legend Mary Black in association with IMRO Ireland which begins on One 21st April.
As part of the TV series & online initiative I will be visiting secondary schools around Ireland hosting songwriting workshops along with some very special musical guests which we start filming next week!!!
Between now and 8th February, you can log onto www.rte.ie/culture and nominate your favourite folk song!!!
I had a lot of requests asking where the dress was from and also looking to see it full length. So below, here it is I bought it in Folkster Kilkenny. Check out their fab website here

And finally (for this post at least ) I am back in the studio recording vocals for my new album. I’m almost at final recording stages so it’s getting very exciting now…I just can’t wait for you all to hear these brand new tracks…
Hope y’all had a lovely Christmas & are having a great start to 2019. I have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline for this year, the big one being the release of my new album which I’ve been recording since last April.
I signed my first record deal with Ainm Records when I was 12 following an appearance on RTE 1’s Kenny Live, just an innocent fresh faced young one…I recorded my first album ‘First Impressions’ & that was it…I was bitten by the bug.
I signed my next record deal at 20 with Sony Music, signed again when Sony merged with BMG & signed for a third time with Sony when they became just ‘Sony’ once more. I spent a long time flying back & forth to London & America working with some of the worlds most successful Grammy winning songwriters & producers to release my next album ‘Free’ which was produced by ‘Altered Images’ drummer & guitarist Stephen Lironi. I also recorded an album with Grammy winning producer Bill Bottrell in Mendocino California (Michael Jackson, Shelby Lynne, Tom Petty, Prince etc) which has yet to be released.
By now I had signed a management contract in London with Twenty First Music Management which was owned by Elton John. One of the highlights for me was opening for Elton 3 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo with my then UK based band before we toured all over the UK.
In 2010 I released ‘The Full Circle’ independently. Up to that point I had spent most of my life signed and so it felt like the right thing to do for me at that time both musically & personally, I learned first hand the day to day workings of running your own record label…a great learning experience. ‘Roll The Dice’ EP followed after that which was another independent release.
With over 20 years working as a professional musician & still only in my 30’s I have never been as excited for an album release as I am for this next one. The fire in my belly has only ignited & the recording process has been an absolute joy.
It’s 80 percent recorded & then will be ready for mixing & mastering….
I cannot wait to share this with you all, watch this space
