Four of Ireland’s finest are coming to a venue near you to showcase their song writing and performing talents in an intimate setting.

Leslie Dowdall & Mike Hanrahan have been performing together since 2009
while Luan Parle & Clive Barnes have been performing together since 2014. This tour will see all four artists perform solo and collaborative sets.

Front-woman of legendary Irish band In Tua Nua, Leslie Dowdall’s solo career began in earnest with the release of her first album in 1997, the artfully entitled ‘No Guilt, No Guile’. The album won high praise for the creativity, vision and the soulful vocals and included hit single ‘Wonderful Thing’, among other highlights.

Mike Hanrahan’s first solo recording ‘Someone Like You’ featured the timeless classic ‘We Had it All’ a song later recorded by Ronnie Drew, Eleanor Shanley and Mary Coughlan. Mike spent 14 years as a member of Stockton’s Wing and many years as producer, writer and guitarist with Ronnie Drew

Clive Barnes has been gaining a worldwide reputation as one of the finest songwriters and guitarists on today’s scene. Having played and recorded with Joe Cocker, Taj Mahal and Eric Bibb to name but a few, Clive has won various awards including Album of the Year in the US magazine ‘Acoustic Guitar’.

Meteor and Tatler Award winner Luan Parle’s top 10 hit single ‘Ghost’ spent 3 months in the Irish Charts and was one of the most played songs on radio that year. Having signed her first record deal at just 12 years of age, Parle has written and recorded with some of the world’s most successful Grammy winning songwriters & producers.

Leslie & Mike, Luan & Clive will be collaborating to bring you an eclectic and exciting mix from four of Ireland’s finest Singer Songwriters.

Finland, Hotspot Greystones & Iontas Arts Castleblayney

Hey guys,

With a busy couple of weeks it’s taken me a little longer to sit down and write this blog. Cup of tea in hand I am now reliving all the lovely memories made in wonderful Finland.

Friday September 29th Clive Barnes and I boarded the plane from Dublin Airport to Helsinki full of excitement for what lay ahead. We were on our way to headline the 31st Finland Irish Festival at Virgin Oil.

Helsinki bound

We arrived in Helsinki Airport, picked up our luggage and guitars only to be met by the very lovely Matti who brought us to our hotel where we would be staying for the next couple of nights…Hotel Torni (meaning Hotel Tower). Hotel Torni was the tallest building in Helsinki up until 1987 and has the most wonderful views of a fabulous city from Ateljee Rooftop Bar (known especially for the toilets which have scenic glass walls to the outside)

On Saturday we made our way to Virgin Oil for soundcheck and what a venue….it was just amazing!!! We had the most fabulous day meeting all the other performers and organisers including the lovely Mal & Paula. We were looked after so well, the hospitality we received was second to none. Around 10pm that night we took to the stage and played to a wonderful audience.

We also were the last names to sign the Finland Irish Festival autograph book which started in 1993…Next year a new book will begin….

Afterwards we had a little drink with “The Rapparaes” a Belfast based band who were also playing the festival..a lovely bunch of guys.

The following day we made our way to the beautiful town of Heinola to play the stunning Ranta Casino owned by husband and wife Stephen and Marika Cronin. Stephen and Marika are just the loveliest people.

We played that night to a full house at RantaCasino and with sound provided by the lovely Max. It was such a joy to wake up the following morning in the picturesque woodlands of Cronin’s Guesthouse.

Unfortunately our time in Finland had come to an end and it was time to fly back to Dublin with wonderful memories, lifelong friendships and plans to return in 2017.

pic

Hey folks,

So I’m just starting to get over my jet lag after an AMAZING trip to New York. As soon as I get a chance I’ll post a little diary of our trip as I’m super excited to tell you all about it.

Before I do that, I just want to tell you all about our upcoming gig tomorrow night May 28th at the Róisín Dubh Galway. After playing a show at The Róisín with the wonderful Declan O’Rourke just before Christmas, Clive & I felt like we just had to come back sooner rather than later and so we’re really excited for tomorrow night.

Tickets are 15 and available to purchase here

Time 9PM

I was also delighted to host a songwriting workshop yesterday at Dublin’s Liquor Room’s for the International Literature Festival. Such a lovely and talented group I had the great honor of working with and a fabulous festival.

If you would like to check out the video of the song written in the 2 hour workshop, you can check it out below;
